I have the distinct pleasure of being a little less busy at the shop these days. That’s thanks to an amazing team of incredibly capable people who keep everything running. They order the things, receive the things, organize the things, schedule the things…

I pay the bills, dream up big ideas, and wander around to see if anyone will chat with me. It’s a pretty great problem to have.

With a little extra time on my hands, I’ve been looking for ways to fill my cup. We’ve always sponsored Summer Tuesdays, but this year I thought, Why not have a booth? We used to have one… about 15 years ago. I don’t have anything going on Tuesday evenings. I could totally run a booth.

So I started ordering things specifically for my Summer Tuesdays booth. Who’s my audience? Kids, mostly. Which means I bought all the things I thought kids…and their parents…might love for summer road trips and other fun. Emily, Julianna, and Jeri never questioned me to my face, but I’m pretty sure there were a few exchanged glances every time another shipment of miscellaneous stuff showed up. 😉

Then last Tuesday afternoon arrived. Day 1 of Summer Tuesdays.

I started gathering everything and realized… I needed to figure out how to get it all to the park, then to the tent. Oh, and I needed to find the tent. Oh, and I needed a couple of folding tables. Oh, and I needed cash for the cash box. Oh, and it was approximately 159 degrees with 400% humidity.

What in the H-E-double-hockey-sticks was I thinking?!

I’m 54 years old. It was blazing hot. I was really going to set up a tent, haul all this stuff three blocks, work the booth, then pack it all up and haul it back?

I had about an hour before go-time and was standing there staring at my bags and boxes of goodies, trying to figure out how I was going to pull this off.

Then Carly walked in and said, “You know… you don’t have to do this.” Giving me complete permission to change course;)

So… guess what?
