Welcome, Everyone.
Today, we’re here to celebrate Maggie and Logan and the life they have chosen to build together. A life filled with laughter, reluctant hikes, and competitive board games.
I’ve obviously known Maggie my whole life and we’ve been through a lot together. But I don’t think either of us ever imagined that one day we’d be standing here, on a beach in Montana, on Maggie’s wedding day, with me officiating the ceremony.
Maggie’s been telling me what to do for pretty much my entire life, so it seems only fitting that today I’m the one standing up here telling her what to say.
Maggie and Logan’s journey together began in high school during what was probably one of the strangest times any of us will ever experience, the COVID shutdown. It wasn’t exactly the easiest or most normal way to begin a relationship, but looking back, it was a pretty good indication of what the two of them were capable of. Because this relationship was not without challenges. With Logan graduating high school and starting his career, and Maggie enrolling in Winona State, there was distance between them. This may have been a time for a young couple’s story to end. But these two continued to choose each other, for 3 ½ years. Through 2 ½ hour commutes and 40 plus hour work weeks, through only seeing each other on random weekends. These two consistently chose to love each other.
Eventually, all of those weekends and all of those miles led to the life they have together now.
Maggie now spends her days convincing seventh graders that problems can, in fact, be solved. And Logan spends his days making sure things don’t catch on fire.
Those seem like pretty useful skills for a marriage.
Marriage isn’t just about finding the person you love. It’s about finding the person you want to keep choosing.
When life is easy, and when it isn’t.
When you’re together, and when you’re 2 ½ hours apart.
And today, surrounded by the people who love them most, Maggie and Logan get to make that choice official.
Declaration of intent.
Max: Maggie, do you take Logan to be your lawfully wedded husband, to love, honor, and cherish from this day forward?
Maggie: I do

Max: Maggie, please repeat after me.
Max and Maggie:
Logan, I choose you today, and I will keep choosing you.

To laugh with you in the good times
To stand beside you in the difficult ones,
To listen, to be honest, and to be kind,
From now until forever.

Exchange of rings:
Max: CJ, Can I have the rings please?
Max: These rings are a reminder of the promises you’re making today, and of all the choices, big and small, that brought you here. May they always remind you that you chose each other, and that you’ll keep choosing each other.
Max: Maggie, please repeat after me.
Max and Maggie:
Logan, I give you this ring
As a reminder of the promises I’ve made today,
And the life we choose together.

Pronouncement
Max:
By the power vested in me, by Maggie and the State of Montana, I now pronounce you husband and wife.
Logan, you may kiss the bride.
