Too Big

I knit this sweater in June 2010.  It was way too big.  We put it on a mannequin and belted it and it was a great sample for us.  We learned though that the Rowan pattern book that the pattern was from was no longer going to be printed and so we couldn’t provide the pattern anymore.
.
I thought about selling it at the sample sale we are having soon, but the sleeves were a good 8″ too long.  I figured what the heck did I have to loose?  I would try to felt it.
.

Front Loader Felting?

It was the first time I had tried to felt something in our new front loading washer.  I had no idea what to expect.
.
I put it in a zippered pillowcase and set it on quick wash with hot water.  After about 18 minutes it went to spin cycle, I paused the machine and pulled out the pillowcase.
.
It felted alright.
.

too small…

It will probably fit my 8 year old daughter Maggie, but I am not sure if she can handle a 3/4″ thick 30 pound sweater:)
.
Lesson is…yep, a front loader felts alright!
