This is a picture of me from my 30th birthday.
I went skydiving with my soon-to-be husband, my soon-to-be father-in-law, my sister, and some dear friends.
This photo represents what I feel like this week, with just 4 sleeps until we welcome our campers to Sweater Camp 2024.
These last few months we have been ascending, like the tiny airplane hauling us…up, up, up to 12000 feet. My team and I have been working to make Sweater Camp the very best event possible. We’ve been ordering amazing swag, collaborating with creative talented people, receiving boxes and boxes of product, printing labels, printing nametags, figuring out who’s allergic to peanuts, sending out swag, making sure Zoom works, choosing the camp cocktail (that was a fun one) and so much more!
And this week we’ve hit cruising altitude and it’s time to jump! The guy on my back tapped my shoulder and hooked me up. I put my toes over the edge of the open door to the plane and he said “We go on 3”. He said “1, 2…and then he pushed me out. Skipped right over 3.
The 15-minute instructional video I watched and the guy strapped to my back was all that stood between me and the ground that was growing ever closer so quickly. It was very loud at first. The wind was rushing past my ears, my cheeks were flapping. The other jumper, who was tasked with taking my photo flew towards us and snapped this picture. It was loud for just a few minutes…maybe even less. Chaos.
Then the guy on my back pulled the parachute cord, or maybe I did, I don’t even remember. And everything was quiet. I could hear the other people in my party talking, I could hear people on the ground yelling for us. The ground stopped rushing up and we were just floating. I looked around. It was beautiful. Peaceful. Incredible.
These last few days, in preparation for Sweater Camp, we are still in the chaos of the jump, but Friday morning, when camp starts and we pull the parachute cord, the ground will stop rushing towards us and we’ll be floating down. Enjoying the beauty that is Sweater Camp!!
I am so grateful for my team of amazing Rockstars who have my back. I’ve got theirs too.
We go on 3…
