Back in early 2020, before we even knew what Zoom was, we invited some designers and yarn companies to “zoom in virtually” to our very first Epic Sweater Camp event here in Stillwater. Sweater Camp was 3 days of knitting/crochet, learning, and eating together. We thought it would be a unique experience to have people we admired be able to talk with our 100 campers directly from wherever they were in the world.
It worked! We had a ball and our presenters zoomed into our camp from Paris, Oregon, Canada…all over. We loved this zoom thing! We had a 360 camera in the room, so our guest could see the group, and then the group could see the guest on the big screens. Our campers could ask questions too!
Who knew that we would all learn so much about virtual learning over the next 16 months. I think my first tattoo should be “you are on mute”. Ha!
Well, we are doing it again in 2022!
