What an incredible fiber community we have here in the Twin Cities. You guys are awesome, but we already knew that.
If you’ll indulge me…
This kind of event is unique to independent businesses (quilt shops, bookstores, yarn shops). You don’t see these kinds of progressive events with big box businesses.
Why? Because independent businesses are a different kind of retail. We get to know them. Our customers in many cases, become as familiar to us as our families. The other reason you don’t see many progressive events like this in other retail environments – It’s not easy.
It is not easy for 15 entrepreneurs to come together and agree on the same details. We all have our own ideas and personalities. We have owners that have been in the business for 20+ years and owners that are brand new to the business. This is an incredible group of passionate people.
I just wanted to publicly thank all the owners and managers that work so hard to make this event the very best it can be, for all of our shops, and for all of our customers. I appreciate you.
I am challenged and inspired after meeting with these business owners. I am proud to be a part of this unique event and this unique retail community.
We’re already excited for Shop Hop 2019.
Not true about bookstores. We independents celebrate on Independent Bookstore Day (April 28th, by the way) with our Passport program, prizes, specials, etc. I love all independent businesses!!!
I just wanted to say thank you!!! To all our wonderful fiber/ yarn shops in the metro who participate in Shop Hop. As a customer, we know your choice to participate comes with both a financial and time commitment. WE LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT SHOP HOP. We love that we are giving to those in need. We love the excuse to indulge in our hobbies and passion for 4 days annually. We love the bonding with our girlfriends, new friends and fiber friends! We love the theme because a party ain’t a party unless we have something to get excited about. We love that you spoil us. You make special patterns just for us; dye beautiful fibers just for us, welcome us with generous hearts and if that isn’t already enough, you still manage to do more with the special gifts available at each store. Shop Hop is better than Christmas morning!
Great to know Susie! Our local Stillwater bookstore participates too now that I think about it! Thanks for the reminder. I’ll change it:)
Kudos. Glad it was such a success.
Just wanted to add congratulations on another very successful Shop Hop. One of my knitter friends and I have been doing Shop Hop together for the past four years and really look forward to it each time. Loved the theme this year, and the thoughtful interpretations made by the individual LYS’s. Gleaned lots of good ideas, helpful hints, lovely patterns, and came home with some beautiful yarn! Really impressed with the total amount of funds raised for a great cause. Thank you all!
