Whoa.
.
We weren’t expecting this.
.
Many, many of you are interested in the Building Blocks class and we are thrilled that you want to expand your skills. The blanket is fun to knit, the suggested yarn is soft and squishy, the pattern book is a great resource and the video tutorials from Knit Purl Hunter are a great addition.
.
Just so we are all on the same page, I want to reiterate the rules of engagement for this free class. I am going to use a lot of bold, underlining and italicizing here…just to get my point across and I apologize in advance:) This is a long blog post, but if you are interested in the class you need to read it!
Before I begin, if any of the rules below don’t work for you, just drop us an email or call us and bow out. We won’t hold it against you. We think you rock!
Here we go…
.
You MUST register for this class. We have a large classroom, but it does have limited seating. If you haven’t registered for the class, online, in the store or on the phone you are not registered. If you think you are registered you need to double check by calling the store 651-342-1386 or emailing us dku@darnknitanyway.com. All classes are now full. You can see the class description here. You can certainly still purchase the book and yarn and complete the squares on your own. We are always at the shop if you need help.
.
You MUST purchase the book and yarn at our store to participate in this class. I hate to even have to write this, but we’ve had questions about it. I hope you understand that the class is free and we are a yarn store that needs to sell yarn to stay open:)
.
The pattern book, with the 10% discount is $18.00. We have sold out and are awaiting another 40 copies. We expect the books to arrive next week on 8th or 9th along with a few color cards. The yarn the pattern recommends is Simpliworsted from Hikoo. It is $12.60 with the 10% discount. If you want to use all one color, you will need to special order it from us as you’ll need 12 skeins and we don’t have 12 skeins of any color in stock right now. We’ll need to place the order for all special orders by Monday the 14th to make sure we get the yarn in time for the classes. All special orders require payment in advance. If you are like me, and want to knit each square a different color, you can purchase one skein a month and you won’t have to worry about dye lots or special orders. It is an awesome yarn that is soft, squishy and machine washable, and I am confident you won’t regret buying it for this class.
.
Having said all that… you are welcome to purchase any yarn we sell for the blanket if you find something you prefer. If you have yarn at home you were hoping to use…you can buy the book and tackle this project on your own. The video tutorials are great and we are always here to help if you need us. You just can’t participate in this free class.
.
You MUST know how to cast on, knit and purl.. We will help you with the rest. So if you are a newer knitter please brush up on those skills before you come. We don’t want you left behind.
.
Ok, I’ve said it all.
.
I hate to be naggy and I don’t like too many rules, but with the number of people registering for this class we need to be as organized as possible. We want everyone to have a great experience!
.
Thanks for reading all the way to the bottom of this email!
.
If any of the above rules don’t work for you, just drop us an email or call us and bow out. We won’t hold it against you. We think you rock!

I think Anne McManus registered herself and me for the added class 3-5 pm or something like that, but there was only one spot left, not two. When should I check back to see if I got in? I will want to purchase one of the books once they come in. How cool that this class is so popular! I love the idea- perfect for me to learn new things and have a project more manageable each month. Thanks!
Becky
I understand the class is full, however, I would like to order the book and the appropriate materials. Can I just stop by to do this?
I saw this note a bit late – I would like to take this class! Will you be offering it again?
