Hello Fellow Chambourcin Knitters,
.
As of today I have about 19″ of the back knit.
.
.
.
.
Its beautiful and I am happy with how beautiful it is to this point. But, now I am stuck. I have started the arm hole. I am about 2 inches in and I have spent an inordinate amount of time trying to decide what to do with the lace pattern at the underarm. The designer does not specify, at least I can’t find it anywhere, on how to progress with the lace pattern, once you start the decreases.
.
I checked out how the various sizes have done it on Ravelry. Some have carried 1/2 of the lace pattern up to the top and others have dropped the lace pattern and carried stockinette stitch rest of the way to the top. I like how the stockinette looks, but most of the finished garments that I looked at only had 4-5 rows of stockinette. After, I’ve finished decreasing I have nine extra stitches remaining. I think that would just look too wide and not right.
.
So, I have thought about decreasing 3 more stitches on each side, so that I only have 6 stockinette stitches at the edges. Generally I find my armholes rather gaping on me so perhaps this is what I’ll do. Needless to say, I just can’t come to a decision that I’m comfortable with…..
.
Oh decisions, which way would you proceed?
.
All input is welcome. I’m so rarely undecided about how to handle knitting patterns and their corresponding idiosyncrasies, but this one just happens to have me stumped.
.
Yes, I really, really like my sweaters to turn out perfect. I guess some would say that makes me a perfectionist, but indecisive, now that’s not me. Please, help me get out of this quagmire of choices!
.
Cheers, and happy knitting and decision making!

Hello Jen! Looking at the other projects on rav, I would do the half lace panel. BUT I think the pattern might say to do kitchener on the shoulder seam???? (I don’t have the pattern in front of me so apologies if this is incorrect…) I would do a three needle bind off on that seam instead so the shoulder seam is supported and hopefully the sleeve cap will stay in place better. Good luck in whatever you decide to do! I can’t wait to see your finished sweater. Val
