I had the nicest thing happen to me this week. Katie came in.

Here’s the story.

A few weeks ago, during a very busy time at the shop, Katie asked me to order some yarn. I told her I would.

I forgot to write it down. I forgot to order it.

I didn’t remember in fact, until she came back in to pick it up. Ugh. I felt so terrible. She needed the yarn to finish up a poncho for a child’s Christmas gift. Ugh.

I hate letting people down. It’s such a bummer.

Now, Katie could have reacted with anger and annoyance. I totally would have understood. But she didn’t. She very graciously said. “I’m trying to not let things that don’t really matter bother me. This isn’t a big deal. Is there another yarn I could use instead?”

Honestly, I could have hugged her. I was so humbled by her kindness. She came back in later that night to get the yarn when I wasn’t there and Carly sent me this text message.

“Katie came in to get the periwinkle yarn. She said “tell Aimee – don’t sweat the small stuff”. (yes, I do randomly send photos of my happy self to Carly:)

Not only did she tell me this in person earlier, but she wanted to be sure I knew she was serious. She chose to tell Carly to remind me.

I’m gonna choose to be like Katie as crunch time is here in our holiday season. How about you?

Be kind this holiday, be Katie this holiday!
