Yep, that double pointed needle is supposed to be there…it is for the button band.

I was not a math major.
.
I never took statistics.
.
I am not particularly interested in numbers (just ask my accountant)
.
But, knitting the body of this sweater was so mind numbingly boring that I had to do something with my time.
.
So, I decided to time myself knitting.  Yeah, I know it is pretty lame, but I had to do something with my mind.
.
I got out my iphone and started timing myself.  My husband has been reassured that I am still crazy.  I timed myself for a good hour of knitting…I think that is a good sample right?  I think it’s called a sample anyway.
.
The body of the sweater is 197 stitches per row give or take a few (who’s really counting at this point  anyway).  It took me, on average, 4 minutes 25 seconds to knit a row and 5 minutes 30 seconds to purl the next row.  Yep, that’s about 10 minutes for 2 rows…holy crappoly.
.
Here comes the math part.
.
The sweater from underarm to the held off stitches is 13″.
.
I am getting 8 rows for every inch.
.
13″ x 8 rows = 104 total rows
.
Divide the total rows by 2 (cause we have a knit row and a purl row) and you get 52
.
Multiply 52 x 10 and you get 520 = total number of minutes to knit 13″
.
Divide 520 x 60  and you get 8.6666 = total number of hours to knit 13″
.
8 1/2 hours to knit from underarm to the held off stitches.
.
So…now that I have it written out it doesn’t seem so bad.  Funny.

Generous armholes

.
Carly wanted to be sure I mentioned the very generous armholes in my sweater.  Perfect for my ever growing Beach Body Biceps:)
