So, you know from the previous posts that I have ripped this sweater back once because I only cast on 5 stitches under the arm and the pattern said I should have done 10.  Well, I knit the 10 cast on under the arms and I knit exact to the pattern.  I am knitting a size 38.  Well, I got done with the decreases and thought I would try it on for size.  I pulled off the needles and put the stitches on some waste yarn so I could fit the thing over my head.

I was very much hoping for a fitted sweater and this was too big, so I decided to decrease a bit more at the waist before increasing again.  I decreased another 8 stitches over 6 rows.  Then I increased as noted but less the 8 stitches.  I bound off and put the thing on…ready?

a big bumpy…the sweater not the girl

Not so hot huh?  Forgive the low cut neckline, remember I am putting a pretty lace weight panel in there.  But because I decided to decrease more at the waist, the sweater is too bulky at the top and it is rippling.

Wanna know what is so funny?  If I had kept the underarm stitches to 5.  Woulda been perfect.  Yep, shoulda kept the darn 5 stitches and kept on knitting. Argh!

So, I have decided to cast on the lace and knit that panel, then see how much time remains in my month.  I knit for an hour today and only got 1″ of lace knit.  I have to knit 32 inches I think…If I can get this lace panel knit in a week, I’ll still have 2 weeks to reknit the sweater body in a size 36 and do the arms?  Might be pushing it.  We’ll have to see…
